BigClown package – Unpacking

Hi,

few days ago I received really nice package from BigClow crew. It is starter kit of BigClown automation system.

I have to say it is really nice set here are some photos from unpacking 🙂

Tag module

Whole BigClown system is modular so you can add any sensors/active part as “tag” so if you need connect more sensors you will need something like port extender for easy connection.

Tag Module enables to connect up to six extra tags. Every tag has a unique I2C address. Using two independent I2C buses (I2C0 and I2C1) makes it possible to connect two tags of the same address to a single BigClown node.

Humidity tag

Humidity Tag uses humidity sensor HDC2080 offering ±2 % accuracy of relative humidity and a very low power consumption making it suitable for battery-powered applications.

Temperature tag

Temperature Tag uses a high-accuracy temperature sensor TMP112 with typical accuracy of ±0.1 °C at 25 °C.

Power module

This module allows to connect 5 V DC wall adapter via a standard 2.1 mm power jack socket. With this module a BigClown node can be powered using its integrated LDO which generates 3.3 V output from a 5 V input.

Part of power module is high current 250V relay, so you can control AC devices 🙂 really handy.

Core module

This module is a fundamental element of every BigClown node. The two most important components are ARM microcontroller and 868 MHz radio module.

Base module

This module works as a mechanical stand for a BigClown node.

My time schedule is one big mess now so I do not have so much time to close examine parts, so in close future I will publish standalone post about every single module/tag with pros/cons compare, in near future I also complete parts to first project ( Smart led stripe )

That’s all for today.

Best Regards David Fires Stein
